I'm Nathalia Lima, photographer and graphic designer from Brazil, living in the US.
Photographing people is what I love to do. Especially women. As I started this black and white portrait project, I wanted to photograph several faces I saw on my college campus every day, all genders. However, my connection with the women I photographed was always stronger and smoother, it grows throughout the photoshoot and suddenly they are not afraid of showing themselves to the camera. We grew up in a society that tells us we are never enough, from our appearance to our achievements, it is never enough. We are not allowed to be us, but instead, we are identified by what men see and want from us. As of now, this project has the purpose of shining a light on themselves as they want to be seen, capturing a moment where they felt free. It is an ongoing project, I don't plan on stopping now as I know I'll meet other incredible women in my life.
