End of an incredible summer of serving Jesus Christ at Kidder Creek Camps. I can hardly believe it is over, there were days where it felt like we just wrapped up our staff training! What an amazing summer!
The greatest blessing, was being given the responsibility of BackCountry Lead. I was entrusted with 14-25 campers each week, as my team lead them into wilderness. Backpacking. Rock Climbing. Whitewater Rafting. I witnessed campers take BIG steps closer in their relationships with Jesus.
One night at campfire a girl who wanted nothing to do with the wilderness, gave her life to Jesus for the first time (and then fell in love with the wilderness too!). Prayed for healing & restoration of deep wounds within the campers hearts. Building relationships & into the next generation of future leaders of the faith. So many stories!!
At the beginning of the summer, my vision was to cultivate a community. A community where Christ was our cornerstone. Where my staff would break open their lives in communion together. To be known. To be loved. And to be valued exactly the way God created them to be.
Ultimately, so we could invite them into our "home" (in the wilderness) for the summer. Time & time again my campers walked away understanding they were known, valued, and loved by a good good Father.
I am ever so thankful to each individual the Lord lead to serve alongside me in the wilderness this summer. Each of you took a risk in breaking your lives open, and investing in each camper this summer. Brent, for being the mouthpiece God used to stir up a hunger for the Word of God amongst our campers. "Mac" (Liz), for being courageous in vulnerability of sharing your story - for one of the bravest things you can do is just that! I am so proud of the visible growth in which you experienced this summer. :) Rye, for sacrificing so much & leading with me from sun up to sun down. I shall never forget our home in the wilderness this summer. Jesus moved mountains in the hearts of our kids, as He did in ours as well.
Lest we forget.
What surprises me most, is that I can say this was my 5th summer serving at Kidder Creek Camps! It is unbelievable that just five summers ago one of my best friends called me. Challenged me to leave the comforts of my Midwestern lifestyle to see the West Coast. At first, I was reluctant & rather broken. After much prayer, I took my first flight to California. That first summer, was life changing. I came in with a heart of brokenness, and by the end of the summer my heart was restored by the love of Jesus. Little did I know, Jesus would continue to lead my heart back to this place again & again.
Let alone move across the country two years ago, to call this place my new home. What a journey!! God is so faithful, and good. I am excited for all that He has in store for this very special place called Kidder Creek.
