Most "post-metal" bands bore me to death , but I found myself enjoying what Lovely Wife have to offer up on Problem Rock. The EP kicks off with "Export To Disk," a massive, side-long track of instrumental sludge with experimental and industrial elements. It's an unorthodox sound, but heavy as fuck. On the flip we get two tracks, "Filth" and "Ting," each with a noticeably different sound than earlier; the production is way more lo-fi and there are some growled, distorted vocals. With "Filth" there's some hypnotic, ambient vibes going one, while "Ting" is more angular and raw. Solid tracks, but not quite up to "Export To Disk." If you're wanting to scope out some unusual sludge or doom, give Problem Rock a listen.
