The mail seems to be going at a snail's pace thanks to the holidays, so here's another digital album review while I wait for the cassettes I've ordered to show up. DSBM has never been my thing, mostly due to the extensive lack of talented musicians in the genre and the overly dramatic, depressive atmospheres the bands strive to create. Based on the project's name and the album's song titles, that's what I figured I'd be getting here, but The Cold Night ended up being quite the opposite. Not only does NPiL have some talent, they mange to mix healthy doses of raw, hateful metal into the atmospheric parts. Definitely worth a listen.
