2012 IS DONE, it is. and as Ontario Street had been doing Sessions up to number 10, it seemed to be a great idea to get into the best of the year, and not just one session, three of them!. A titanic effort with the foreseeable consequence of an enormous slip past. But guess what? that was not the result. Unprecedented attention was a nice present for a better future, a smile little sideways, but smile.
So, what we thought it was best in 2012 (by style, in this case Post Rock). Locals And So I Watch You From Afar (from Eugene, actually) was an easy choice, they are great. And then, so and so many classics (classics?): Hologram, Blueneck, The Pirate Ship Quintet, Mooncake, Balmorhea, Leech, Her Name Is Calla, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Collapse Under The Empire, Caspian, Glorie, The Dead Science, Explosions In The Sky, Ty Segall. This was an easy one, and fun to mix, really fun. We loved Leech and Blueneck. GY!BE were in Portland a couple of months before, after 10 years of silence. Yes, it was a pretty representative sample of 21012 Post Rock. For sure.
