In a world that increasingly depends on the digital, some of life's most beautiful moments still come from little analogue pleasures. Listening to a record, reading a book, holding a photograph or shooting a roll of film for the fun of it, sitting down with a newspaper – these are all little gestures that require more thought and more time than their electronic equivalents, and it is that investment that makes them all the more precious.
Instagram is fun, but the thousands of images that we scan through on screens every day fade from the mind as quickly as they appear. A printed photograph, by contrast, is both a visual representation of a memory and an object in itself, the holding of which is a sensory experience, separate to simply seeing the scene.
I don't want to sound like a critic of digital technology, because it's invaluable to my work; I'm simply trying to pay tribute to tangible objects that have their own unique qualities. Which is why I've made some of my favourite photographs available for purchase, printed with one goal in mind: quality without compromise. Comments and criticisms are always welcome.
