She set out on life’s white paper
strutting principles for a gown.
Somewhere along the way
she tripped and fell down.
So she shortened dream’s veil
and rolled her sleeves up.
Then it rained and the nearby
cars splashed mud on her gown.
So she tore off her gown’s ruffles.
Everyone gave her the queer look.
Still she held her ground and kept going.
She got a lace and filed bolts.
Without any screws she tied
these bolts with wit and hard work.
Today you can see her strutting
a shimmering silver line of bolts.
They bounce freely in the wind
and their weight doesn’t bother her.
You can hear her roar with vigor
as her bolts clank she is dank.
Life is simple, when it rains get an umbrella.
If you don’t have one just walk in the rain.
If you are bold enough lose the gown
but keep going no matter what goes down.
Life is simple, gowns drag you down
but bolt gowns make you bold.
I am Machine by Three Days Grace
is all it took to make me a bold bolt.
