When Souls Cry
When tender gets rarer
and love feels like never;
When sadness feels forever
and hurt overshadows endeavor;
When loss makes sight clearer
and death seems nearer;
Love the greatest farmer
plants hope’s clover
in life like a dagger
in trials’ monger.
When care is a danger
that makes conscience a loser;
When deceit means clever
and pride gets to answer;
When speech is left for anger
and hate is announced winner;
Souls cry trying to remember
times that were better
pushing love harder
making minds stronger
and one a survivor!
Author’s Notes:
Inspired by: “Love isn't the work of the tender and the gentle. Love is the work of wrestlers. Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the obstacles within yourself that you have built against it. Let yourself be silently drawn by the stronger pull of what you really love.” ~ Rumi
