Comfort a Religion
Dictionaries define it as freedom
from pain or constraint.
Self help books claim
ways to relieve distress and grief.
People find it in places, ways, and reasons
that defy logic, morals, cultures, and time.
Yet what is it?
Is it just giving your heart a place to feel safe?
Is it just when your mind resorts to silence?
Is it when your senses are numb?
Is it when your tears stop falling?
Is it when your hunger for a loved one is quenched?
Is it when you follow your calling?
Is it when you hear approval?
Is it when you get your reassuring kiss?
A definite answer is as impossible
as delimiting humans’ relativity.
Still Comfort can be grasped when:
Calmness and Openness flow
with Maturity and Faultlessness
to beat Obscurity and bring Reality
that unleashes a Love founded on Trust.
Comfort is a religion where
Solace is a deity prayed to
for relief in the temple of Grief
with Prayers from those who weep
for Reasons Known and Unknown.
Comfort, Comforters, and those Comforted
form a Holy Mystery that baffles Humanity.
