Afriel angel of youth, Ariel angel of Nature,
and Cassiel angle of temperance were asked
by God to bring Earth’s greatest allure
to the heavens to add joy and pleasure.
Afriel chose a red rose, symbol of amour
as his greatest earthly allure.
Ariel chose a child’s laughter
as his greatest earthly pleasure.
Cassiel chose a mother’s heart so pure
full of love as his greatest earthly treasure.
As Afriel began to ascend to the heavens
the red rose wilted as if it never were
beautiful, rendering it wrinkly and obscure.
Then Ariel’s child’s laughter
turned into a deep cry so cruel
it made those in heaven think of hell’s torture.
Cassiel’s mother’s heart was so pure
and asked the angel who is so cruel
to make a baby cry from torture?
All three angels stood before God
waiting for Him to accept their gifts of allure.
Cassiel's gift was deemed the true allure
of all gifts, as it remained loving even
up in heaven as it thought of another.
A mother’s heart is love’s eternal
spring of sacrifice, for it beats
for a soul that lives to wither
for another soul.
