Morality via Immorality
Where is the state to incarcerate
those relishing a crime of hate?
A kid stole chocolate from a plate.
He was caught and treated like bait!
What a sad issue to deliberate!
They beat him from head to pate.
They laughed filming him to state:
it’s okay to humiliate
a thief and even celebrate.
What a painful way to illustrate!
Immorality masked by morality does irate.
Such acts of hypocrisy serve to accentuate
a deranged psychological state.
Why aren’t the laws that incriminate
such acts applied on folks so degenerate?
Here I am scratching my head trying to delineate
right and wrong to a crowd even more degenerate.
I can’t believe proven abuse is still subject to debate!
When all the kid could do was cry and capitulate!
How can teaching morality give one the right to violate?
Inspired by the prompt “scratching my head thinking of” and Jack Nicholson's Meme:
The footage the poem is talking about is of a man beating a kid because religion says stealing should be punishable and him being pious is entitled to instill that moral lesson in the kid and that was his way of doing so. The events relayed in this poem are real and the incident is still highly debated in the media, and human rights' organizations. Thank you for reading.
