Colors for Color
You were the color in my life
until your irises lost their color.
Though you had no colors in your life
you gave me your life and wisdom for color.
Today I give you all my love in scarlet red
My heart in following your teachings for gold
My strength to hold on to every bit of you in regal black.
My caress and thanks in warm brown.
My kisses and wishes for you in soft baby pink
My words for plentiness a generous green.
My loyalty and bravery in bright orange
My forgiveness and tenderness in satin white.
My prayers and best wishes in divine purple
My resilience and innovation in electric mauve.
My devotion and dedication in vibrant fuchsia.
My promise to choose my battles in ash grey.
I hold on to you as you held me all your life.
You are the color of love and my world in color.
This poem is dedicated to my dad whom I missed his last moments and this was something I always wished to give him had life been fair to give me that chance. But sometimes we love people in death and after death more than when they are alive for that is love’s deepest and truest form.
