The Fish & the Mermaid
He was a fish out of his water
made to bite on silence like bait
yanked with love from his mouth
the day he said I do.
He let his mind paint a tale where a
mermaid loved an angelic human
wearing patience’s decorum
sleeping on avoidance’s foam
She was a sea hag who stole
a mermaid’s voice to entrance him
with love’s rhythm making him
slip into sorrow’s river.
One day he saw his metal ring
rusty, so he tore his contract
and broke away from her song
He never looked back! Free at last!

Inspired by: “Hurt a steam powered bireme collides straight into hope dispersing joy and purpose like a glass dream breaking into pieces. Leaving a heart to hurt in gloomy blues paying sadness for dues with silent abuse from words used to infuse meekness with weakness, a deadly combination that crushes a heart into pulp diluted in tears burning souls per stance”.
