What are your pleasures, guilty or otherwise? We as humans are wired to seek out that which makes us feel good, and we do so in many, many ways. From a neurological perspective, this is dopamine. A hello, a text message, a bite of chocolate, jumping out of a plane, a fix of a drug, are a few examples. But this search for happiness through repetitive exposure to certain experiences can create discontent if we do not home self-discipline. I have learned that focus on the long-term, and that each micro decision I make now affects what the term is, means a healthy balance of neurotransmitters and thus a healthy life.
