So, just to help out a friend. My buddy Tom Shultz is an artist. He has either completely done or collaborated on all three of the covers for my published books. He is also trying to escape the corporate world and in need of some income.
If you are a writer and not doing your covers yourself, or having daughter of @kseniaanske do them, or even if you are doing the first, I suggest checking him out.
Being an independent author he feels our pain. He has also been an artist for years but has just recently jumped into cover design. I talked to him and while he would eventually like to get more in line with standard that starting out and knowing what cashflow is like for indies is keeping him lower priced right now.
He is currently offering to do covers for $100 US, payment on completion of the project. Price may vary based on complexity of the image desired and how soon the deadline is. He charges me more because I am a raging pain in the ass to deal with.
He's good and he does all the lettering himself so your title and name get on there. I am coming to find out that it not a given, as much as I thought it was. So it is worth mentioning here. Thanks for taking a look and please do check out his site, even if it is just to browse. Thanks again.
His portfolios are here and you can contact him through the page - http://tom-shultz.squarespace.com/
