Roger Federer returns to the ATP Tour!
Stuttgart, Germany: The current World no. 2 made a successful return to the ATP tour after skipping the entire clay season and thus not playing any tennis for the last 3 months. Roger looked a bit rusty at the beginning of the match and he dropped the first set to Germany’s Misha Zverev. The German is known for his solid serve and volley style of play that requires getting used to even by the best players on tour. In the second set however, the Swiss Maestro adjusted well and he broke Zverev at the crucial moment of the set, at 4-5 to win it 6-4. There was no looking back for Roger as he raced to victory 6-2 in the third. He defeated Zverev 3-6 6-4 6-2 in his first match on grass in 2018
“Three months is a long time, it's longer than the year-end break. So I'm very happy returning on good terms onto the Tour,” Federer said. “It was difficult, missed some chances maybe in the first set... He connected well at the right times. And then I found a way, I found my rhythm... I'm very happy with how I played. I'm super happy to be back on Tour. It's been a great start.”
