Unbearable truth n°3:
What do you say to people who are dying?
You say I'm here, you say don't be afraid, you say it will be okay. But it won't, it will never be okay anymore. And you will never be there anymore.
What do you say to people who stay?
You say I'm sorry, but it has nothing to do with you. You say they'll always be there, but they've never truly been. You say I'm here if you want, but you won't really.
You say it will be okay. And yes it will, until the end.
What do you say when you're going to die
to people who're going to live?
You say I'll be fine. You say I'm terribly afraid. You say we are all going there. You say I'm sorry to leave you behind. You say I will always be with you. You say I love you, I loved you and whatever's left of me will keep on loving you. You say I'll be the wind, I'll be the warmth, I'll be the leaves of the trees and that's why the world will love you deeply, because I will be there. You say don't be sad for me, I have been happy. Or you say don't be sad for me, I'm so glad it all ends.
You say nothing. Because it is too big and you are too small. Because your loneliness comes back and crushes you, because you cannot avoid it. It's just you and your memories and that unbearable feeling of loss. There's something revolting in you that cannot get out because you are not a storm, you are not an earthquake and your pain is forever stuck in your throat and your tears in your eyes and your screams in your mouth.
