Stop Being Rich
Peim van der Sloot
Peim grew up in Capilla del Monte, Argentina and returned to the Netherlands to graduate at the Academy of the Arts in Utrecht in 2010. After running a design studio for a couple of years, working with companies like Sagmesiter&Walsh and Kunsthal Rotterdam, he decided to switch his focus to his autonomous projects. Peim always had a keen interest in the lively niches in between visual arts, design and performance.
Through a range of graphic techniques including sticker-collages, silkscreen and print he plays with the visual perception of the viewer, focusing on the relationship between shapes/colors and how they effect the retina and the mind.
His works are generally based on grids making use of repetition and algorithms as a compositional method.
With a minimalist approach I react to contemporary issues in an abstract but critical way. The performative aspects of making my works are not ignored but rather encouraged.
