I grew up feeling like a reject, growing up gay in Phoenix, Arizona which is a pretty conservative town. I always wanted to get out I couldn't wait to leave. And when I finally went to college and then move to Los Angeles after college I went to a place called Circus Disco which had thousands of gay Latinos all in one place. It felt like I was coming home and it felt really great there. It has made me feel stronger knowing that there are other people like me and there is a place where we belong. Also, it inspired me to create places where people belong.
I have a little stuffed dog I've had forever. It doesn't have a name. It is comforting, it sings “You Are My Sunshine”.
