I made a movie last year and I just finished it and we submitted it to a couple of festivals and we didn't get into any of them which really sucked. And the story is really quite personal, movie is really personal. It is a little bit based on my life growing up in Chicago so it felt like a personal rejection for it not to get into any of the festivals. In spite of it not getting in anywhere it still is an accomplishment to have made it. I feel really proud of it despite all that. It's like a rejection that kind of makes me feel like an outsider but doesn't like dissuade me from continuing to make movies.
I had a Trix rabbit. Once there was this promotion for the Trix rabbit in some of the cereal box company and they would send you one. And I carried it with me for a long time. I projected a personality onto him and he became a friend in a way because I was pretty introverted. It helped me get through those really shy, difficult early years. I haven't grown out of being an introvert I’ve come to be OK with it more. Before it was very crippling now not so much.
