I've been writing poetry since elementary school. My poetry heydays were middle school and high school. In the middle of that span of 7 years, I came up with "smallwrites" right around NaNoWriMo 2012 (??? I think???).
Smallwrites are pretty much just pieces of poetry, churned out of my mind in quick phrases. They could turn into something more, but most often they do not. They can stand alone.
When I started college a couple years ago, I started making myself draw a lot. I didn't realize until a few months ago that I had forgotten about my poetry. At first, I couldn't reach that part of me. Nothing was churning out. But I've steadily come back to it.
I haven't been writing a lot of poetry recently, but I have had phrases, like smallwrites, pop up in my head.
I decided to write them down in hopes that more would come (and it worked!), with the ultimate goal of drawing a character based off of each phrase.
Im finally back to drawing on my #wacomtablet, which is another accomplishment that makes me feel great. The best part may be that I have not pushed myself into the "you must get this done asap! you must have a deadline!" corner for this.
