too many videogames came out in 2014. i doubt you'll find many people who would disagree with this idea. i spent $XXX in november alone (all you need to know is it was 100+ dollars, move along) and i haven't even opened dragon age yet. i'm still playing destiny, and enjoying it still, somehow...
it's time to take a look back at this ballistic year in video games (mostly due to the fact that i've forgotten about a lot these games and i need to make a list for myself so i can remember to finish them).
alien: isolation did not fuck around. the atmosphere and pacing of the game was unmatched this year. sega did a damn good job. they used the ps4 controller wisely, incorporating the speaker in such an obvious manor, most other studios would have overlooked it (i'm looking at you bungie).
full disclosure: i haven't finish the game. i wasn't even close. once i met the xenomorph that was that. that rotten bastard was smarter and deadlier than any AI i've seen this year.
i will return to this game without a doubt. much like dark souls, if you get killed in this game, it's your fault - not because the game's controls are a bowl of spaghetti (i'm looking at you assassin's creed: get off the wall) and because of that, winning is that much sweeter. "winning" in alien: isolation however is more along the lines of "sneaking past the xenomorph whilst shitting your pants -what the fuck was that?!".
