Hooray, $12 computer upgrade complete. Grabbed a couple more gigs of RAM for my aging desktop, brought it up to 6 gigs.
I'm running on a few pieces of pretty old hardware and some of the older ones are getting ready to go. It's a little choppy here and there, but this box has held up surprisingly well given all I put it through.
It's still running on an Abit KN9-SLI motherboard, which was getting good reviews back in 2006 with an Athalon X2 Dual core 4800+ that was released in May of 2005.
Today's upgrade took me from 4 gigs to 6. I'm pretty sure it had 2 when I started a decade ago.
I last replaced the video card in this box in June of 2011, which was a big deal at the time, although the Radeon 5700 HD is starting to show its age.
I replaced the primary boot drive with an SSD around a year ago. That was a big deal. Best upgrade ever. Prices now are about half what they were when I bought it.
I've gotten a really good run out of this machine, with some really reasonable upgrades over the years. With a couple more gigs of ram, I'll probably make it into next year sometime before I finally upgrade the mobo/proc.
