Hey, so I had been keeping this to myself for some time, but picked up Bayonetta 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, and The Last Story this month. Man, these are all really good.
I obviously lucked out on the last two games, and what happened was I found someone who put them up for sale on OLX. Definitely worth every penny, although in hindsight I could have used the money for other things.
What surprised me about the two was I was expecting to be bored out of my gourd with turn based fighting, and these two definitely have cool action oriented systems, that make them more akin to The Legend of Zelda than Final Fantasy.
I don't want to sound cruel or narrowminded, but I really just could not get into turn based RPGs and that hasn't changed all these years. Playing through Earthbound now and I must confess, it's those same mechanics that keep me from finishing it in one setting. To its credit, EB managed to keep me interested with its funny story and writing.
In any case, it's odd because I can live without playing with any other person on my Wii U. Thankfully, my sister actually plays Mario Kart with me when she has the time, so that's not a 100 % reality.
I felt guilty about admitting to owning these games right now, knowing it would drive some friends I havent' seen for a while jealous. I just can't meet anyone right now though, in the middle of getting serious dental work done.
