Arts and Commerce are like Religion and State.
They technically can work together in harmony, be it however precarious the relationship might seem. They can also work against each other, and in turn have the potential to demolish the harmony betwixt one another, maybe even severely mar the existence of the other, but that doesn't mean you should change your views on the subject matter, for what really causes the damage is dissidence and passiveness; the lack of interest in substantiating your beliefs and keeping them relevant to someone else other than yourself.
Tl;Dr: They can work together, doesn't mean they should in every which way. They can destroy each other, but that's why you let them work together. What's good for the goose should be equally good for the gander, although it takes some to realize that it doesn't have to be the identical kind of good which both get.
