Much on my mind. A freind and colleague @anglobaptist preached an Ash Wednesday sermon on being seen, and Jesus' admonition to not practice ones piety before others. He touched on this, and its where my mind has been, about celebrity and Christian faith and practice. We seem to not only want to be seen but connected with those who are. I think of the small church in a small town in California, I've often been infuriated that the wisdom and faith experience of my parents, who this community of faith had also chosen as leaders, would be passed over in favour of the opinions of the celebrity (and usually conservative) Christian teachers.
