Exploring the Depth of Field
Executing Traditional UI Elements into the 3D Virtual World
The latest design trends involve many realistic-looking 3D interfaces with the purpose of capturing the user's attention, with not much of a deeper meaning. With this, traditional UI designs have always shown us hints of Z-depth layering, 3D images using perspectives and gradual opacity utilising the X and Y axis - all of which is 2D.
This project is an experimentation on how elements such as login screens, toggles & switches, number pads, airplane mode, etc.) can be executed in an actual Z-depth field, through the use of virtual reality. Users will be able to touch, capture, sense and play with all these traditional elements that we thought would never leave a flat screen.
