For my last submission to "Digital Decade Cyberia", I wanted to create a narrative that references my avatar image.
"Cyber Binary: 1010011011. Hexadecimal 29B. Bits 10."
Near the end of the digital ethos cybernetics has programed biomorphic synthesis to create self replicating, regenerating and self-aware cyber-organic nano-tech humanoids. But what was created for our "convince" has out lived its usefulness - for us or any organic parts.
With the last biologicals reaching advanced age. This time their biomorphic care givers, opts them out for renewal. "Humans extinct".
Cyber Binary: 1010011011. Hexadecimal 29B. Bits 10; Superseding the last organic counterpart numerated Binary 1010011010. Hexadecimal 29A. Bits 10. Decimal 666 (implied by some cyphers' to be an imperfect number that represents the impurities of man, his secularity.
Newly self-aware, and in a moment of introspection "he" contemplates "self" and the transmigration of soul in mirror reflection. Seeking autobiographical re-experiencing to construct life's narratives "he" finds "self" In between the black and white, lost in a vast plane of grey "His" look grows distressed, trying to transport thoughts back to his past, he suddenly realizes he doesn't have one. How can one "know thyself" when there is no self to know?
So are we, or should I say were we ever completely self-aware? Obviously not, we were not self aware enough to know when we were making mistakes in creating for "convince" for ease, comfort, to save or simplify work over creating for necessity, to ensure the survival and advancement of humankind.
