My eyes stung the second I opened them. It felt like blood was reaching the surface of my eyes and slowly gushing out from behind my pupils, as if my eyes were just full of blood already and they couldn’t take the pressure any longer. To add to the pain, I couldn’t see very well; I could still see, but everything was blurry. I tried to focus on the stars pasted to my ceiling for a few moments before realizing that I’d been laying in my bed for at least twenty minutes with no other purpose.
Even though it hurt like crazy, I got up from bed and made my way to the bathroom. My sight wasn’t blurred enough that I couldn’t make out most objects; I just couldn’t see detail. The light made my eyes sting more, but I ignored the feeling as much as I could and turned on some hot water. I don’t remember even touching the cold spout, but I don’t think I would have needed to now.
