I always wanted to be recognised as a Person. As a girl I never understood why some people would treat me different than others. Or some things were just no gos to talk about. I realized that especially guys but also some girls I grew up with were rally disgusted by hearing the word period. Instead of treating it like something totally normal, I hid my tampons, never talked about my cramps and felt dirty. When I grew older this suddenly started to change an I discovered there are people who don't think menstruation is disgusting. We would give ourself tipps for products, talked about PMS, everything was so easy all of a sudden. I really wished I would have known this as a teenager. So I think one step to equality would be, not shaming girls and women for having their period. It's normal. So don't be afraid of talking about strawberry week. We should also include boys and men in this conversations. So they might learn and understand that women are not dirty, hysterical or moody just for being on their period. I hope in the near future menstruating wont be a thing one's ashamed for.
