“I’ve DONE Things…” by Richard F. Yates
Ha! Gotcha!!! Lured in by the lurid title, you’ve been tricked into seeing my current artistic and creative progress, not some salacious confession… Although, to keep people titillated, I’ve decided to use the word “titillated” in a sentence! (And, for those unimpressed by wordplay, here is a drawing of two people smooching, which I drew on the wrapping paper for the gift I gave my wife for Valentine’s Day!):
And here’s the bunny I put in the card I included with the gift:
Have you ever felt like you were doing sixteen things at once---even though your brain is fragmented and dysfunctional and most days you feel lucky if you can actually accomplish just ONE thing at once? I feel like that all the time, but right now I’m reading three books, working on a board game, drawing stuff, trying to keep up with household chores, working as a delivery driver, putting a book together, AND trying to live a good life all at once… And I don’t know if I’m doing ANY of those things correctly---but at very least, the MUSIC that’s playing in the background while I’m doing all this stuff is pretty dang good! (Take joy from whence it can be taken. So sayeth the Winged Serpent…)
ONE THING I’VE MANAGED TO FINISH LATELY: CRYPTO-ART
I have completed, uploaded, and tokenized two more pieces of CRYPTO-ART in my bid to THRUST myself further into the future. All the paper drawings and notebooks and paintings and collages that I’ve got laying around the house here could potentially burn up in a fire at any moment, but the CRYPTO-ART will LIVE ON! It’s part of the Ethereum blockchain, now, (thanks to the folks at MakersPlace, who are awesome!!!!) and it will probably be around a lot longer than I will be! (So if you want ME to enjoy the fruits of my labors, you better do something about it while I’m still around!) To check out these two new crypto-art trading cards, or any of my OTHER pieces of CRYPTO-ART (all caps, because it’s IMPORTANT,) go here:
“Stay Honest!” (CPTC - S2 #10)
This piece started as a micro-drawing (about 3 by 4 inches, approx.) that I digitized and colored and manipulated using a free program on my phone. An interesting bit of trivia about this piece, it represents (for me) a clash I had with a person who was trying to say that I was a corrupt, evil individual trying to ruin the lives of a group of kids who I had seen at a crosswalk hit a car with a soda bottle and then laugh about it. I took a photo of the kids and posted it on a local news forum (on Faceboot) and the piece went BIG, hundred of shares and people screaming at each other, and a bunch of folks saying the kids should be murdered and shit like that. Then the kids’ parents found out, and the boys said they didn’t do it, that the soda accidently slipped out of one of the kid’s hands, rolled under a car, and got run over by traffic. Suddenly, I was a MONSTER, who had LIED about the kids because I hate kids and wanted to destroy them---and wasn’t I ashamed of myself??? And it was a big load of shit. What I learned from the whole experience is that people lie, people exaggerate, people perceive things incorrectly, and people ONLINE get really HOT AND BOTHERED over their preconceived notions, and they make up stories that they tell themselves and BELIEVE and then project those onto everyone else. It wasn't funny at all---and that makes it SINFUL in my religion... (AND, from the whole incident, I learned not to fuck around with online news forums. They are poison. Even if I see someone stab another person, clear as day, I’m not going to report it, or anything, ever again…) Anyway---STAY HONEST! (AND BE FUNNY!!!)
“Mouse and Ghost (Being Watched) (Before Colorization)” (CPTC – STM1 – 9)
This drawing was done with colored pencils and ink on found cardboard, then digitized and tweaked a bit. As the title implies, there is a version of this piece where I colored the heck out of it, digitally---but I honestly like this version, before the heavy digital coloring, better.

Redbubble is a great print-on-demand site that I’ve used for many years. I upload stuff to it (lots and lots and lots of stuff,) and on rare occasions, people buy t-shirts or stickers (I’m not a big fan of the sticker quality, though,) and I WISH more people would buy postcards from me! The postcard option is listed under the “Greeting Cards” settings, for some reason, under the “sizes” drop-down menu. Postcards are an inexpensive and underrated way to collect ART! Or, I suppose, you could buy a t-shirt or a clock or a pillow or something---but I like postcards, personally… Anyway, here are four new designs to choose from!!!
“Sugar Skull (On Leftovers Box)”
AND I’VE MADE PROGRESS ON MY GAME!
Not too much to report here. I’ve come up with some concepts that I think will help make gameplay as enjoyable as possible, and I’ve completed another game board! (Still need to make about 20 more of these…)
