Nope. Perhaps it was the clothing, or the architecture, or the fact that I've watched far too many Monty Python episodes over the years, but I definitely got a UK vibe from this piece of Ektachrome when I first saw it. However, the cars are on the wrong side of the street for that to be the case. My next thought was Boston, where my grandfather lived in April 1970 (the date stamped on this slide). A zoom in to the HARVARD SQ marquee on the left edge of the frame confirmed it...we're in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Surprisingly, the Out of Town News kiosk still stands today as a landmark in the center of Harvard Square, though a tour via Google Street View will show you just how much the area has changed in the last 46 years.
