#acceptance of others begins the minute you start accepting yourself.
1. Not for hunting. 2. To express 3. You're art.

Rina Maria Mendez Ramirez was born in San Jose, Costa Rica.. She found her love for arts since she was a small child, always trying to express her mental world through paper and colors. She attended The Conservatorio Castella in San Jose, Costa Rica, a specialized and unique school entirely dedicated to teaching arts, where she had the opportunity of exploring the arts in the whole spectrum. She studied for 5 years and got her technical degree in visual arts. After high school, she went to Universidad del Diseño in Costa Rica for getting a license degree in architecture on 2008 from Universidad Central de Costa Rica.
The topics of my work are mainly based on explorations of themes that me feel passionate about, for example social or taboo themes. Besides that I also find inspiration in emotions, feelings, music, and nature. Maybe because of being from Costa Rica, a tropical country I use the ocean and tropical plants in many of my creations.
My style is mainly abstract surrealism. I use a big variety of colors and stylized figures, kind of memories from my dreams and imagination.
I like mixing materials and techniques when creating. I also love to work with watercolors, oil paint, chalk, acrylics mainly but I can also work sculptures, and woodcut printing. My creations are classified in different themes and sometimes they can be mixed up.
