This is a series of illustrations based upon my nocturnal dreams. It all started with a recurring dream about an A-frame house. Every morning (and sometimes in the middle of the night), I wake up and sketch the images, themes, landscapes and stories of my dreams before illustrating each dream exactly as I remember it - down to the colors, moods, and various characters in them. The overlapping panels signify the breaks in my memory of each dream, as I wake with a collection of images that I attempt to patch together through my art.
The more I have worked on this project, the more vivid my dreams have become and the more I am able to recall upon waking. It is an illuminating, surreal process, the result of which is a collection of detailed illustrations with ink as my medium.
I am an artist and illustrator based in San Francisco, California. I create paintings inspired by nature, architecture, and the culture in the city I call home. For the complete Dream Drawings series, go to https://robingalante.com/dream-drawings.
