Making Ello Happen (for me)
I've been fascinated for a little while now about how to make Ello work for me. The truth is, most networks are about the people who make them work. It's why Xanga worked (friends) why Livejournal worked (community) and why after hating it initially Tumblr thrived for me personally (community + friends) where Posterous failed (RIP).
So...here's the deal. I was thinking of a hokey 28-days of Ello thing, but the truth is, I'm writing a book and my word count isn't where it needs to be and so, I need to just habitually writing and sometimes for me, the best way to get going is to trick myself into writing other things so that I can write the stuff I actually need to write.
The other thing is, I've been accused by close friends of being too staid on normal social media, especially twitter which is the most public thing I do outside of the myriad tumblrs and it's true. I used to care a lot less when I thought no one was following, but even then, my personality never really showed up.
TL;DR: I'll try to keep more real. No idea what I'm going to post about for 28 days plus whatever days in January we have to go. It'd be tempting to turn this into a social feed of all of the various things I've written all over the place because there are SO MANY feeds and things, but...I'm not sure about that yet. Maybe.
But for sure, I want to get out actual 28 posts of content that might not fit on my other channels but that I think are worth sharing -- in one place -- and if folks see it, great but I'm not really doing it for you.
