Continuing our last Tokyo adventure...
Breakfast REALLY IS the most important meal of the day. At least it is for the first morning in Japan. I don't think I ever consume more breakfast food on any other day. I mean, I NEVER have tofu and miso soup back at home in the morning. Love it here.
This was a new wrinkle to our Japan visits: BOMBS AWAY!
Friday: overcast day. Weather peeps said it would rain by mid-afternoon. You do NOT tempt fate when the chance of rain is high. Our plan was to hike to Ikebukuro Sunshine City before the storm hit.
Yes, we got lost for a skosh.
Took over an hour but we did make it to The Promised Land: TOKYU HANDS! One of the best places to get lost in the best contemporary consumer culture around. We were supposed to shop for towels but also got caught up in cutey desk calendars. My sister wanted one so I kept sending pix over wifi cuz AIN'T TECHNOLOGY GRAND in 2017!
Lunch in another area of Sunshine City. Went to a yakitori place that had all these CHEAP lunch specials. I had this aji fry/nanban chicken combo that would have cost maybe $15 in Waikiki.
Walking out we saw this local burger joint, Kua Aina. This actually used to be a block away from my place -- never expected to find it in Japan! And no: I didn't come to Japan to eat hamburgers.
