When researching the costumes and weapons for Saga, we tried to keep it as authentic as possible. Maria Løkken was in charge of this and did a fantastic job of it. First she took contact with an expert, Per Øyvind S Gulliksen from Nordagutu, to check out what sort of weapons the vikings used, what their clothing was made of and the style of the clothing. He gave us lots of invaluable information and even loaned us some replica viking axes.
Maria borrowed some of the costumes from Grenland Friteater then made the rest herself. She used her expertise, based on the information she had collected, to put together some authentic viking costumes. The swords were also borrowed from Grenland Friteater but the shields were made and painted by Maria, and held up to multiple takes of sword fighting action.
