My name is Samantha Rosenwald, I am a painter and drawer currently living in San Francisco. I grew up in Los Angeles: an image-centric mecca for juice-cleanse namaste soccer moms, perpetually good-smelling silicone starlets, and most notably, perpetuators of the myth of perfection. In response to all of this, I have always been a clown. Comedy is my retort to anxiety; it is a coping mechanism which gives me a loophole around the impossible ideals of LA's sugar-coated, hyper-glossy culture. This inner tug-of-war between humor and anxiety -- between laughter and panic -- is what drives the art I make and defines the person I am.
