I aim for my progress to be organic and thus truly authentic and honest. I do not construct towards a ‘perfect’ and distant ideal, for it takes away the personality and individuality of each mark and gesture. I do not wish to become slave to the idea.
There is no pre-meditation, no defined or determined concept or process, no obsessive plan to stick to, begin with or take off from, for I feel that it inhibits exploration and mutation. I do not force ideas onto canvas, I work in a liquid fashion within the medium exfoliating the now. I rather engage with the unknown and thrive in the potential of what could be. It is this attitude, which allows me to transmit inspiration as it surges.
I begin… A rapid explosion of intricate marks in all directions. An elaborate Jazz of colour, shape and form spreads and entangles effortlessly on canvas. The graceful and elegant lines are hypnotic, weaving and embedding the viewer into this tapestry. I 'vomit' this ‘materia prima’ onto the surface, and begin moulding it. Giving it shape. Dealing with this raw and expressive bundle proves to be an arduous phase. One which makes me face the depths of self and paradoxically (or not) extends outwards.
