Stuck on this rock
Sunrise at North Lake
I really wanted to include the rocks in the foreground as well as all the texture of the ice in the next shot. Regrettably I didn’t have room to move around at this side of the lake, literally stuck on this giant rock, because of the swarm of photographers all flocked along the shore.
So, I composed a shot in the portrait mode. I wished that I was a whole lot lower to the water surface, but since I couldn’t get off the rock, I did the best I could.
Here’s the thing though. Most photographers did not move an inch from the spot that they were settled into whenever they had gotten here. No spot was technically any better than the one that they already had. Hence, I was literally and figuratively stuck on this rock.
Once I was done capturing the shots that I wanted though, I packed up my gear, got off the rock and let another photographer who showed up quite late take it.
Too bad that I didn’t have a whole lot of time on this trip. Part of me really wanted to hike into the canyon. But then again, I realized that the temperature dropped a lot lower in the higher elevations than expected. Time to bring the winter camping gear.
