So much #reading, it's delicious! I'm actually reading my own stuff, not reading anything from the #pileofbooks I've set aside for the end of the year, but that's even more satisfying as I get to plot out where I'm going next with things. #Writing is on the menu as well.
I'm not doing #edits yet, though. If you're in a writing mood, or a reading mood, for that matter, how do you cajole your #innerchild into doing something like edits? Especially since it's impossible to just go out and publish a raw, unedited book anyway?
Well, if #publishing isn't your goal, you perhaps don't have to, but if you are intending a work for a larger audience, you just gotta square your shoulders and go do it. Which is hard, as editing can inevitably mean you're sort of ripping apart your baby. But you're building a better story, or novel, by doing this.
That being said...if you have someone to #betaread for you, or to be constructive with your work in any way, I say go for that, as long as they are trustworthy in their responsiveness. I've written about being clear what you want from a secondary reader in the past, but it bears mentioning again. Getting a detailed #critique that rips apart your central premise may not be awesome when you were looking for #copyedits, or vice-versa, for that matter.
So, is my time off going to be all reading and writing, with a dollop of editing on top? Well, we can always hope, can't we?
