I recently started listening to 99% Invisible, an incredibly well made podcast about "...all the thought that goes into the things we don’t think about — the unnoticed architecture and design that shape our world."
One of their mantras is the phrase "always read the plaque". I love this idea. It captures a beautiful spirt of curiosity. Life can become routine, and thats ok, but its important to remember how many interesting things there are around us. Staying curious, interested and engaged in our world and my experience in it is something I'm constantly working hard to embrace.
"Ever wonder how inflatable men came to be regular fixtures at used car lots? Curious about the origin of the fortune cookie? Want to know why Sigmund Freud opted for a couch over an armchair?"
You should check out the podcast, it's definitely worth your time.
