The moon waxes brightly in the sky and I feel the churn
The beast is an ocean, pulled forward like a tide.
Rising to the surface, I feel my flesh begin to burn
Unnatural strength surges in me, there’s no stopping this ride.
My teeth gnash. My claws slash.
My eyes gleam in the night.
Paws padding on the concrete paths
All my senses wait for fight or flight.
There it is, the flash of motion as my prey flees.
My powerful legs send me flying forward
I won’t stop, I can’t stop, I have an appitite to appease!
The world hears the screams as my prey falls slaughtered.
It’s the heat of the kill I desire the most,
Along with the ribbons of flesh torn from the bone
After the hunt, I’ll be tormented by the ghost
As my victim’s last words are a baleful moan.
The beast will leave me and find rest when the day arrives soon,
But tomorrow, I become a slave to the pull of the cruel pale moon.
