I am synthesizing descriptive mark-making and awkward composition to transform the figure into a strong, yet fragmented subject. Using scumbling and glazing techniques, I have merged the forms of the subject with the physicality of the painted surface. The result is paintings that are small pieces of myself which allow for an intimate connection to the viewer. My intent is the create a lush, visceral painting that people can connect to, and perhaps, feel themselves in.
