In my search for visual forms, I consolidate the exchange between my personal gaze as an artist, and the narrative contained within the subject. What I look for in this narrative is the representation of not only a catharsis, but also the revelation of a hidden identity. It is not the pose, product of training or repetition.
My method is simple: to stimulate irrationality in gestures, in pauses, and in poses. It is almost the same process as with a performance, but above all, it is the final result of automatism. In 2018 Ľuboš Kotlár finished his master's degree at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, Department of Photography and New Media. In 2014, he was on internship at Aalto University in Helsinki, having studied Visual Culture and Contemporary Art. In 2017 he was on internship at Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, having studied Photography. He has presented his works at several group and solo exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad. Since 2012, he has worked as co-founder and active member of the dsk. artistic group.
