Catch and Release
Happily submerged, gliding through the deep.
Suddenly, everything is bright and awful.
My mouth tastes of metal, and I'm struggling, gulping for air.
Flailing, flopping around. No air. How could you trick me so?
"I would never hurt you. I love you. I trust that you'll know what to do."
And so you carefully take the hook out from my mouth, and throw me back.
Until the next time you reel me in.
