Colonia del Sacramento is the oldest town in Uruguay and it has a unique look that comes from a fusion of Spanish, Portuguese and post-Colonial styles.
The Historical Centre is full of old buildings, with pretty doors, bright colours and cool textures all around. This entire area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This town, bathed in sunshine and drowning in lush tropical greenery, lies across the river from Buenos Aires, an hour-long ferry ride away. A real gem, tucked away in a quiet corner of South America.
