My work is born of a dual interest in high fashion and contemporary painting. My medium is acrylic and I work in a hard edge technique which includes the application of airbrush. I am particularly interested in creating images that engage the viewer to a theatrical experience, resulting in works that have a sense of humor, rhythm, and style. I work in two formats, the geometric abstractions and the figurative paintings, both of which are influenced by my infatuation with the world of Burlesque, MGM movie musicals from the 1940s and 50s, and the Big Band Era of the 1940s. I work the canvas as if it were a stage set that includes architectural forms, detailed linear design applications, and hours of taping to achieve patterned textile-like designs. I tend to work with repeated sequences of the same idea or image, to achieve a contemporary collection.
