Having a hard time separating economic and racial oppression. Are they fundamentally different? I think by reading materialism into racism I can simplify it into something relatively tangible, i.e. economic inequality and corporate control of politics. But is racism deeper than that? Are people afraid of others who look different, and is that fear separate from material insecurity?
