Off to Colorado in a few hours to visit the family and baptize my nephew. Gave my brother fair warning when he asked so that he knew what he was getting into. "Well, yeah, that's why I asked you" So I came up with a earthy liturgy that should please everyone ... until I sneak the alka-seltzer and red food coloring in. "Baptism is an outward ritual that intends to reveal the inner spirit and prepare us for the life ahead. Baptism does not create oneness with any God or Goddess, nor does it establish spiritual purity; but it will be our recognition and affirmation of the truth that every child is one with creation, and every spirit is pure. Water symbolizes life, for life does not exist without water. The water used in this baptism is the symbol of immersion of the human in the divine life stream. The marvelous works of creation surrounds us, fills us, flows within us and through us. All creation is pure and good and the source of our very essence."
